Baylor Scott & White Health Enrolls First Patients in the World in Trial for Inhaled Remdesivir

Earlier this month, Baylor Scott & White Research Institute enrolled the first four patients in the world on Gilead’s new clinical trial involving an investigational inhaled solution of remdesivir (NCT04539262). This is Gilead’s first trial in COVID-19 patients examining the safety and efficacy of an inhaled solution of the drug in an outpatient setting. The study of an inhaled solution asks whether this mode of delivery can help reduce the amount of virus from the airways earlier.

Baylor Scott & White’s Glenda Tanner Vasicek Cancer Treatment Center – Temple Announces Construction of New Radiation Oncology Facility

Baylor Scott & White Health’s Glenda Tanner Vasicek Cancer Treatment Center (VCTC) – Temple announces construction of a new radiation oncology facility that will benefit Central Texas patients being treated for cancer. With new radiation treatment equipment and more room for procedures, the facility will be able to treat up to 70 patients per day.

Fort Worth Medical Community Joins Hands on New Graduate-level, School-affiliated Physician Residency Program

Baylor Scott & White All Saints Medical Center Fort Worth and the TCU and UNTHSC School of Medicine will be collaborating on an Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME)-accredited physician resident training program that will eventually train more than 150 physicians annually. The collaboration will be a boon not only for the medical community in Fort Worth, but also for residents of North Texas as it helps to address a growing need for physicians in the Fort Worth area.
