MedStar Washington Hospital Center has been named among the nation’s top heart hospitals by U.S. News and World Report. Its Cardiology and Heart Surgery program climbed to #30, up seven from last year’s “Best Hospitals” rankings. It is the only nationally recognized heart program of its kind in the Washington region.
UC San Diego Health, the region’s only academic health system, is ranked #1 in San Diego and #5 in California, placing it among the nation’s best hospitals, according to the 2021-2022 U.S. News & World Report survey. UC San Diego Health was ranked in the top 50 in 10 specialties.

The Hospital Center’s Cardiology and Heart Surgery program moved up four spots from last year’s survey, to No. 37, in the 2020-21 U.S. News & World Report “Best Hospitals” rankings. The Johns Hopkins School of Nursing is top-ranked for its online master’s nursing programs according to U.S. News & World Report’s 2020 rankings. The school ranked No. 3 overall and No. 2 for its administration specialty.
UCSF Medical Center has been recognized among the nation’s elite hospitals in U.S. News & World Report’s 2019-2020 Best Hospitals survey, marking the 21st year that UCSF Health has been listed among the top 10 hospitals in the prestigious listings and best in Northern California.
