Three Medical Students at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai Named Tillman Scholars

This week, the Pat Tillman Foundation announced it had selected three students at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai to be 2023 Tillman Scholars. The foundation provides scholarship funding to military veterans to pursue higher education and continue their service in the fields of health care, business, law, public service, science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM), education, and the humanities.

AACN and QGenda Launch New Scholarship to Support Nursing Students in Baccalaureate and Graduate Programs

AACN nd QGenda are pleased to announce the launch of a new scholarship program to support the preparation of new nurses and those seeking to advance their education. Open to nursing students pursuing baccalaureate and higher degrees at AACN member institutions, this program will award nearly $50,000 in scholarships through 2025, which will be administered by AACN’s Foundation for Academic Nursing.

TEAM-UP Together Awards 31 Scholarships to African American Students in Physics, Astronomy

TEAM-UP Together is pleased to announce its first cohort of scholars, 31 African American students who will each receive $10,000 for the 2022-23 academic year. The scholarship program aims to reduce financial barriers that prevent many Black students from completing their undergraduate education in physics and astronomy. A collective action initiative, TEAM-UP Together is a partnership between the American Association of Physics Teachers, the American Astronomical Society, the American Institute of Physics, the American Physical Society, and the Society of Physics Students. TEAM-UP Together is sponsored by the Simons Foundation International.

The scholarship covers the cost of tuition for Aaron to attend LSU Health Shreveport – School of Medicine over the 4-year enrollment.

Jerry and Sherri Damerow, longtime supporters of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) education in Arkansas, have made a planned gift of $1 million to support scholarships for science majors at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. The gift will benefit the Jerry and Sherri Damerow Endowed Science Scholarship, which provides scholarships for students majoring in astronomy, biology, chemistry, mathematics, physics, and Earth Science.

Undergraduate Student Audrey Cope Named 2020 Truman Scholar

Augustana University undergraduate Audrey Cope ‘21 is one of just 62 college students nationwide to receive the prestigious 2020 Truman Scholar Award, the Harry S. Truman Scholarship Foundation announced Wednesday evening. Cope is the tenth Augustana student to win the award in the university’s history and is the first to be honored since 2005.
