There are more than 15 million US adults with a history of cancer who need high quality survivorship care. Medical provider uncertainty and cancer survivorship knowledge gaps continue to persist. Challenges exist in the transition of patients from oncology to primary care for continued life-sustaining cancer survivorship care. It is important for primary care providers to recognize common oncologic emergencies. In order to improve outcomes, proper transition and coordination of care are needed for all cancer survivors.
UC Davis offers free online course to help health care providers reduce gun violence
The BulletPoints Project at UC Davis Health has launched a free online course to help health care providers and others reduce gun violence. The hour-long training teaches clinicians how to identify at-risk patients and how to intervene according to the type and level of risk of firearm violence. Health care providers who complete the course can receive one hour of Continuing Medical Education (CME) through the California Medical Association or Continuing Education (CE) credits through the American Psychological Association.

JMIR Publications recently published “Web-Based Training for Nurses on Using a Decision Aid to Support Shared Decision-making About Prenatal Screening: Parallel Controlled Trial” in JMIR Nursing which reported that in this study, these authors aimed to assess the impact of a shared decision-making (SDM) training program on nurses’ intention to use a decision aid with pregnant women deciding on prenatal screening for Down syndrome.

The Blue & You Foundation for a Healthier Arkansas presented the University of Arkansas at Little Rock with a $68,357 grant to support continuing education for healthcare professionals. The grant will allow UA Little Rock to launch and maintain a nationally approved continuing education program to provide continuing education opportunities for nursing students, healthcare professionals, and emergency response professionals.
