Researchers Explore the Role of Congregations in Racial Justice
A trio of University of Arkansas at Little Rock investigators are exploring the role that Little Rock congregations play in faith-based, racial justice efforts, including the response of congregations after the 2020 death of George Floyd. The paper, “Race and Faith: The Role of Congregations in Racial Justice,” was presented at the American Political Science Association Conference in Montreal in September.
UA Little Rock Receives $150,000 NSA Grant to Host Cybersecurity Educational Program Across Arkansas
The University of Arkansas at Little Rock has received a nearly $150,000 grant from the National Security Agency to hold a year’s worth of free cybersecurity educational events for junior high and high school students in Arkansas. UA Little Rock will partner with Philander Smith College to host the 2nd Arkansas GenCyber Strength Training camp in Arkansas, which will support the state’s long-term investment in secondary school cybersecurity education.
Chan Family Marks Professor’s Legacy with $6.75 Million Gift to Benefit UA Little Rock Engineering Programs
The University of Arkansas at Little Rock has received a $6.75 million gift from the family of a beloved engineering professor who was responsible for establishing some of the university’s first engineering programs. The Yupo and Susan Chan Charitable Trust made the gift to fulfill the expressed vision of Dr. Yupo Chan, the founding chair of the Department of Systems Engineering, who passed away in 2020.

UA Little Rock, ASBTDC Introduce Online Training to Keep Small Businesses Cyber Safe
New “Cyber Safe” training from the Arkansas Small Business and Technology Development Center equips businesses to recognize and thwart cyber threats. ASBTDC collaborated with the University of Arkansas at Little Rock Cyber Arena to create the Cyber Safe: Cybersecurity for Small Business online training course. The free, on-demand course is broken into short modules covering cybersecurity basics, such as access control, passwords, physical security, and network protection.
UA Little Rock Offers Half-Off Scholarships for Two Years
The University of Arkansas at Little Rock has announced a major new student success initiative that offers half-off course tuition and fees for freshmen who enroll at UA Little Rock for the fall 2022 semester. In this first-of-its-kind initiative, first-time freshmen as well as freshmen with 11 or fewer transfer credit hours will receive up to 50 percent off tuition and fees for not only their freshmen year for the 2022-23 academic year but their 2023-24 sophomore year as well.

A group of researchers from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock have published an article that examined the possible use of online media campaigns orchestrated to influence the 2019 Canadian federal election. The article, “The Role of YouTube during the 2019 Canadian Federal Election: A Multi-Method Analysis of Online Discourse and Information Actors,” was published in the Journal of Future Conflict in September.
UA Little Rock’s Sequoyah National Research Center creates website visualizing American Indian removal through Arkansas
The Sequoyah National Research Center at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock has created a website and touchscreen table that brings the journey of American Indians who traveled through Arkansas on their way to Indian Territory to life. The center has completed a two-year research project, “Journey of Survival: Indian Removal Through Arkansas,” that includes a website and interactive touchscreen table that visually maps the journey of American Indians who journeyed through Arkansas after the Indian Removal Act of 1830.

NuShores Biosciences receives $2.8 million contract for intelligent manufacturing automation of bone regeneration technology
NuShores Biosciences, a spin-off company of the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, has received a three-year, $2.8 million contract from the Medical Technology Enterprise Consortium, a biomedical technology consortium associated with the U.S. Army Medical Research and Development Command. The contract will enable NuShores to develop intelligent automated production of its NuCress™ bone void filler scaffold products using its factory-in-a-box concept. Key collaborators on the project include UA Little Rock and MiQ Partners of Cincinnati.
