UrduResearch of online victimization in the metaverse is sorely lacking. A new study examined harm in the metaverse among a sample of 5,005 U.S. teens aged 13 to 17. Findings show a significant percentage of youth reported harm in these spaces, including hate speech, bullying, harassment, sexual harassment, grooming behaviors (predators building trust with minors), and unwanted exposure to violent or sexual content. The study also revealed notable gender differences in experiences.

Study Finds Police Misconduct ‘Hotspots’ Across Florida
Researchers analyzed data from 241 Florida law enforcement agencies across 67 counties to explore police misconduct. They uncovered 24 types of offenses, such as assault, weapons violations, manslaughter, and perjury. Notably, failure to report and perjury topped the list, with sexual crimes and drug/alcohol-related offenses also prominent.

People with alcohol use disorder (AUD) are less able to learn from others’ negative experiences, potentially rendering them more vulnerable to maintaining their dangerous drinking or relapsing, according to the first study of its type. The study explored social cognition, processes that enable us to understand and interact with others, and specifically social learning, our ability to learn by observing others’ experiences.
