UrduThe University of Arkansas at Little Rock has received $5 million in federal funding aimed at enhancing cybersecurity in the energy sector through education, workforce development, and innovation. The award comes from appropriations language authored by U.S. Sen. John Boozman passed into law in December 2022. The funding is provided by the U.S. Department of Energy Office of Cybersecurity, Energy Security, and Emergency Response.

Google announces $12m research program with local universities to bolster NYC’s cybersecurity leadership
Google announced the Google Cyber NYC Institutional Research Program, allocating $12 million to stimulate the cybersecurity ecosystem and establish New York City as the global leader in cybersecurity. As part of this commitment, The City University of New York, Columbia University, Cornell University (including Cornell Tech and the Cornell Ann S. Bowers College of Computing and Information Science) and New York University will each receive $1 million in annual funding, each year through 2025.
UA Little Rock, ASBTDC Introduce Online Training to Keep Small Businesses Cyber Safe
New “Cyber Safe” training from the Arkansas Small Business and Technology Development Center equips businesses to recognize and thwart cyber threats. ASBTDC collaborated with the University of Arkansas at Little Rock Cyber Arena to create the Cyber Safe: Cybersecurity for Small Business online training course. The free, on-demand course is broken into short modules covering cybersecurity basics, such as access control, passwords, physical security, and network protection.
UA Little Rock Partners with Forge Institute to Grow Skilled Cybersecurity Workforce
The University of Arkansas at Little Rock and the Forge Institute have partnered to strengthen the cybersecurity workforce development in Arkansas by providing academic credit for those who complete professional development courses in cybersecurity at the Forge Institute. Under the terms of the recently signed collaboration agreement, UA Little Rock will award successful graduates of the Forge Institute’s IT/Cybersecurity Fundamentals certificate academic credit towards a bachelor’s degree in computer science or cybersecurity at UA Little Rock.
UA Little Rock joins coalition to launch health care cybersecurity curriculum and pilot focused on veterans and first responders
The University of Arkansas at Little Rock is part of a coalition of universities and industry partners that are developing a curriculum to increase cybersecurity talent focused on health care with $6.3 million in funding from the National Security Agency. UA Little Rock will work with the University of Louisville, the University of North Florida, Bluegrass Technical and Owensboro Technical, the Forge Institute, and a coalition of industry partners to develop a training curriculum focused on health care cybersecurity.
