The Federation of State Medical Boards (FSMB), Intealth™, and the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) announced today they have established a new “Advisory Commission on Alternate Licensing Models” to provide guidance on alternative pathways for state licensure of physicians who have completed training and/or practiced outside of the United States. The majority of these physicians are international medical graduates (IMGs), encompassing both foreign nationals and U.S. citizens who completed their medical education and training outside the United States and Canada.

FAU Approved for Pulmonary/Critical Care Medicine Fellowship
FAU’s Schmidt College of Medicine has received initial accreditation from the national Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education for its fifth university-sponsored fellowship. The FAU Pulmonary Medicine and Critical Care Medicine Fellowship will be based at Boca Raton Regional Hospital, part of Baptist Health – the primary site for the program – as well as Bethesda Hospital, also part of Baptist Health, and the West Palm Beach VA Medical Center. All are members of the FAU College of Medicine Graduate Medical Education (GME) Consortium.
In stressful jobs, depression risk rises with hours worked, study in new doctors finds
The more hours someone works each week in a stressful job, the more their risk of depression rises, a study in new doctors finds. Working 90 or more hours a week was associated with changes in depression symptom scores three times larger than the change in depression symptoms among those working 40 to 45 hours a week. And a higher percentage of those who worked a large number of hours had scores high enough to qualify for a diagnosis of moderate to severe depression
