Researchers ID Protein as Possible Target for Pancreatic Cancer Treatment

Article title: Nrf2 expression in pancreatic stellate cells promotes progression of cancer

Authors: Yu Tanaka, Shin Hamada, Ryotaro Matsumoto, Keiko Taguchi, Masayuki Yamamoto, Atsushi Masamune

From the authors: “These results demonstrate that Nrf2 actively contributes to the function of [pancreatic stellate cells] to sustain KPC cancer progression, thus, suggesting that Nrf2 inhibition in [pancreatic stellate cells] may be therapeutically important in pancreatic cancer.”

This study is highlighted as one of October’s “best of the best” as part of the American Physiological Society’s APSselect program.
