International conference on pragmatic research in health set for May 2021

AURORA, Colo. (March 22, 2021) – In 2020, the Adult and Child Consortium for Health Outcomes Research and Delivery Science (ACCORDS) education program at the University of Colorado School of Medicine, was awarded a three-year conference grant from the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ). After successfully offering the first online conference in August 2020, ACCORDS, and co-sponsor Colorado Clinical and Translational Sciences Institute (CCTSI), will virtually offer the second virtual Colorado Pragmatic Research in Health Conference (COPRH Con) on May 24-26, 2021. CU Anschutz employees and CCTSI members from affiliated institutions can attend this year’s conference for free.

“This year’s conference theme is Implementation and Conduct of Pragmatic Research, exploring methods for implementing and adapting interventions in response to dynamic context (such as COVID-19), and working with pragmatic measures and real-world data sources,” states Dr. Bethany Kwan, COPRH conference chair, director of the ACCORDS education program, and director of dissemination and implementation (D&I) research for CCTSI. “Attendees at all levels of training and experience will learn from experts in D&I science, as well as data science and biostatistics, about how to actually conduct research in the real world. Have you ever wondered how the experts take the inherent messiness and uncertainty of pragmatic research and make sure the research still meets expected standards for rigor and reproducibility? Their real-world examples will help attendees see first-hand how it can be done.”

Featured speakers of COPRH Con 2021 include:

  • Dr. Monica Perez Jollez, Assistant Professor in the Gerhr Family Center for Health Systems Science, University of Southern California
  • Dr. Fan Li, Assistant Professor in the Department of Biostatistics at the School of Public Health, Yale University
  • Dr. Brian Mittman, Senior Scientist at the Kaiser Permanente Southern California Department of Research and Evaluation.
  • Dr. David Vock, Associate Professor in the Divisions of Biostatistics at the School of Public Health, University of Minnesota

Designed for clinical and translational investigators, including statisticians, dissemination and implementation scientists, health services and public health researchers, COPRH Con 2021 provides a unique learning opportunity to learn from experts, apply pragmatic methods to your own research, gain practical skills for working with healthcare systems, existing practice personnel, and novel data sources, and explore the frontiers of analysis of pragmatic and hybrid trial designs.
