Views of masculinity and support for Donald Trump

Seven studies involving 2,007 people find that, in both the 2016 and 2020 US presidential elections, men’s and women’s endorsement of hegemonic masculinity–which reinforces the power, status, and toughness of dominant men over women and marginalized men–predicted voting for and evaluation of Donald Trump, providing a potential explanation for white women’s and minority men’s support of President Trump, according to the authors.
