Two Early-Career Researchers Capture 2022 JCP Emerging Investigator Awards

The Journal of Chemical Physics is pleased to announce Bingqing Cheng and Katrin Erath-Dulitz as the 2022 winners of the JCP Best Paper by an Emerging Investigator Awards. Cheng was selected for research that exploits machine learning to understand and predict material properties and Erath-Dulitz was recognized for developing a method that controllably prepares chemical reactions to explore their quantum nature. Each winner will receive a $2,000 honorarium and is invited to write a perspective article for JCP.

JCP Announces 2021 Best Paper by Emerging Investigator Awards

The Journal of Chemical Physics, in its commitment to recognizing the excellent work of early-career investigators, is proud to announce the 2021 winners of the JCP Best Paper by an Emerging Investigator Awards. The awardees, Andrew Musser and Yoav Green, were selected for their research on molecular polaritons and electroneutrality breakdown in nanopores, respectively. The award includes a $2,000 honorarium and an invitation to write a perspective article for JCP.

Ice-Binding Molecules Stop Ice Growth, Act as Natural Antifreeze

Certain molecules bind tightly to the surface of ice, creating a curved interface that can halt further ice growth. Some insects, plants, and sea-dwelling creatures contain protein molecules of this type that act as natural antifreeze agents, allowing the organisms to withstand freezing temperatures. In The Journal of Chemical Physics, scientists report a computational method to model ice binding using a biasing technique to drive the formation of ice in the simulation.
