Most lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer or questioning (LGBTQ+) orthopaedic trainees and professionals openly identify their sexual orientation or gender identity to at least some colleagues, but many report experiencing bullying, discrimination, or differential treatment in their workplaces, according to research presented in Clinical Orthopaedics and Related Research® (CORR®), a publication of The Association of Bone and Joint Surgeons®. Older adults who identify as sexual and gender minorities experience disproportionate age-related decline
Using an index to describe and compare frailty between older sexual and gender minority (OSGM) adults and non-OSGM participants, researchers showed that OSGM had higher rates of frailty, starting at younger ages and continuing into older age, compared to non-OSGM.
