Neuroinflammation and Alzheimer’s disease

Researchers report that the small molecule DAPPD, which promotes phagocytosis of microglia cells in the brain, diminished amyloid deposition and improved cognitive function in transgenic mouse models of Alzheimer’s disease; the results suggest that compounds countering neuroinflammation might represent a viable therapeutic strategy against neurodegenerative diseases, according to the authors.
