Messe München and SLAS Announce Strategic Partnership

Oak Brook, IL – The Society for Laboratory Automation and Screening (SLAS) and Messe München Shanghai Co., Ltd., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Messe München in China, have announced a formally established a strategic partnership. SLAS will act as a supporter of the 2019 labtech China Congress hosted by Messe München Shanghai. SLAS will co-organize the SLAS Life Science Forum and jointly create the 200-square meter international Life Science Live Laboratory (Live Lab).

Vicki Loise, Chief Executive Officer of SLAS, said: “We are very pleased about this cooperation. China is developing rapidly in the life sciences and is one of the core markets for SLAS. Labtech China and analytica China have strong influence in China and across Asia. I hope that this cooperation will help the Chinese market and promote productive international exchanges.” Loise extends an invitation to companies and potential attendees to participate in the Live Lab, co-organized by SLAS, on Nov 6-7 in Shanghai. The Live Lab and related forums will focus on “Laboratory Automation and Technology Innovation for Drug Development and Life Science Research.”

The SLAS Life Science Forum is expected to attract more than 500 participants including government officials, laboratory scientists from the private and public sectors, researchers and technicians from pharmaceutical companies, research institutes, CROs and academic institutions. Discussion will center around research results and technological innovations in drug development and life sciences from different perspectives — small molecules, natural products and macromolecules, to name a few. Topics include target validation, high-throughput screening, translational medicine and antibody research. The diverse and comprehensive set of topics will guarantee an excellent educational opportunity for the participants.

The Live Lab will be established by Messe München and SLAS at 2019 labtech China Congress, focusing on “Laboratory Automation and Technology Innovation for Drug Development and Life Science Research”. More than 50 companies from China and around the globe will showcase their developments in laboratory technology and automation, instrumentation, software technology, service solutions and laboratory construction programs. In the innovation environment of the Live Lab, drug R&D institutions, laboratory users, government executives and decision-makers will have efficient, high-quality, face-to-face communication with leading experts and leading international suppliers of lab products, technology and solutions.

Mr. Stephen Lu, Chief Operating Officer of Messe München Shanghai, said: “In the past 20 years, China’s life science research and laboratory construction have made great progress, and the size and potential of the Chinese market are both very significant. The next move is to close the gap in quality, innovation and sustainability between China and the international industry leaders. We are very pleased to work with SLAS and provide a unique platform that brings together representatives from the pharmaceutical industry, the bio-sciences community and the government authority. It would be a great chance to share knowledge and innovation, to talk about new ideas and technologies, and to participate in international cooperation and competition, so that we can be ready for the challenges in the industry and achieve success in the future.”

Registration for the SLAS Life Science Forum is available at the official labtech China Congress website.
