The symposium Electrochemical and Solid State Science and Engineering Applied to COVID Issues E, organized by Sadagopan Krishnan, Oklahoma State University, and Hiroshi Imahori, Kyoto University, gathers scientists across a multitude of disciplines to focus on the most recent results related to emergent viral diseases. Up to the minute research will be reviewed on the science and engineering of SARS-CoV-2 diagnostics, methods of its deactivation, therapeutics, surveillance, health care devices, PPE, and other approaches to mitigate the COVID-19 pandemic and its consequences.
The Electrochemistry in Space Symposium is a highlight of the meeting. Electrochemistry will play a critical role in establishing the processes, systems, and monitoring necessary to support advances in space activities. This interdisciplinary symposium brings together speakers from across a broad range of disciplines to discuss how advances in research and development for electrochemistry in space are addressing these exciting challenges and opportunities. Also addressed are how the features of extraterrestrial environments such as low gravity, extreme temperatures, and remote operations impact electrochemical processes and component design and operation.
