The handling of COVID-19, the economy and healthcare are all major issues heading into the stretch-run of the 2020 election.
But, more than anything, voters are craving a return to normality, said David Redlawsk, professor and chair of Political Science and International Relations at the University of Delaware. And the warm, genuine appearance by Joe and Jill Biden on the second night of the Democratic National Convention provided a glimpse of what that could look like.
“The focus on Joe and Jill Biden’s relationship absolutely reinforced that point,” Redlawsk said. “This is something Donald Trump simply cannot do. If we’re talking about family values, the GOP can’t say it owns that any more.”
Redlawsk is available to comment on the impact of the Bidens’ relationship on the race as well as several other aspects of the election.
