Rebecca Erwin Wells, M.D., a neurologist, headache specialist and integrative medicine expert at Wake Forest Baptist Health, is evaluating how a mindfulness meditation strategy impacts stress and anxiety during the COVID-19 pandemic. She is doing that by hosting virtual mindfulness sessions, which are open to anyone.
“There’s so much uncertainty and so much stress surrounding this pandemic,” Wells said. “I just had this overwhelming desire to help.”
Wells’ research focuses on the efficacy and mechanisms of mindfulness with a specific focus on adults with migraine.
Individuals who are interested can access the virtual mindfulness session here.
Participation in this study – Mindfulness Meditation During COVID-19 – includes completing a brief survey, undergoing a guided mindfulness session led by Wells and completing a brief survey after the session, all lasting about 30 minutes. Data collected will be published in the future.
In addition, Wells is also hosting weekly live sessions. Those interested can email [email protected] for details about upcoming live sessions.
