Researchers creating causal model for continuous software traceability

Kevin Moran, Assistant Professor, Computer Science, received $269,807 from the National Science Foundation for a collaborative project in which he and Denys Poshyvanyk, Professor of Computer Science at The College of William & Mary, are developing a holistic causal model for continuous software traceability.

The researchers have four goals for this work.

First, they aim to define and develop a novel probabilistic model of software traceability.

Second, they aim to design and develop a method for leveraging evolutionary software histories to improve trace link quality.

Third, they aim to devise and parameterize a model to enable causal reasoning for automatically inferred trace links.

Finally, they aim to design and train intelligent agents for accurate trace link evaluation.

Funding for this project began in October 2020 and will end in late September 2023.
