May 28, 2021, Ottawa, Ontario – Dr. Michael Strong, President of CIHR, will launch a new five-year framework that seeks to leverage Canadian research excellence to achieve big impact, foster alignment, and strengthen capacity in global health research.
The framework will be presented as part of a virtual event hosted by CIHR on “Harnessing Canadian Research for Global Health Equity”. The event will feature a panel discussion with the following Canadian and international global health leaders:
- Steven Hoffman, Scientific Director, CIHR Institute of Population and Public Health
- Angela Kaida, Associate Professor, Simon Fraser University
- Dominique Charron, Vice-President, International Development Research Centre
- Morven Roberts, CEO, Global Alliance for Chronic Diseases
- Glenda Gray, President, South African Medical Research Council
- Peter Singer, Special Advisor to the Director General of the World Health Organization
