NCRI welcomes Prostate Cancer Research Centre as new partner

The National Cancer Research Institute (NCRI) is pleased to announce that Prostate Cancer Research Centre (PCRC) have recently joined as a partner. Prostate Cancer Research Centre aims to fund research that will develop effective treatments and better our understanding of prostate cancer.

Prostate Cancer Research Centre only funds research into advanced prostate cancer and their mission is to increase survival rates, reduce morbidity and improve quality of life for men with prostate cancer.

Prostate Cancer Research Centre joins 17 other NCRI partners which include cancer research charities and funding bodies, representing all four nations in the United Kingdom. NCRI partners work together to coordinate their research, and in doing so aim to avoid unnecessary duplication and maximise the impact of research for cancer patients and the public.

Dr Iain Frame, CEO of NCRI said:

Prostate Cancer Research Centre is an important part of the cancer research community in the UK and we are delighted to have them as a partner. We hope that by working with Prostate Cancer Research Centre we can ensure coordination in prostate cancer research and ensuring maximum impact for patients.

Oliver Kemp, CEO of Prostate Cancer Research Centre said:

At PCRC we have grown our income significantly in the last two years and have been able to double our grant expenditure and increase the number of projects we fund. As an organisation making a significant contribution to prostate cancer research spend in the UK, we are looking forward to working with the other NCRI partners to coordinate our approach. We hope that through this partnership we can get better data on where we should focus and improving the quality of the science we fund by using the extended networks available to NCRI.
