BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — With the presidential election less than 100 days away, President Donald Trump is suggesting it be delayed, tweeting July 30 that mail-in voting would make it “the most INACCURATE & FRAUDULENT Election in history.” IU experts are available to comment on election security, who has the power to delay an election and the political implications of Trump’s suggestion.

Expert Bio: Edward G. Carmines is a Distinguished Professor, Warner O. Chapman Professor of Political Science and Rudy Professor in the College of Arts and Sciences at IU Bloomington. He is also the director of IU’s Center on American Politics and the research director at IU’s Center on Representative Government. O’Neill School of Public and Environmental Affairs and an affiliate faculty member in the Lilly Family School of Philanthropy, both at IUPUI. Expert Bio: Gerard N. Magliocca, the Samuel R. Rosen Professor at the Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law, is the author of four books and over 20 articles on constitutional law and intellectual property. He received his undergraduate degree from Stanford and his law degree from Yale, and he joined the IU faculty after two years at Covington and Burling and one year as a law clerk for Judge Guido Calabresi on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 2nd Circuit.
