Abstracts can focus on the conference’s theme “Raising Reliance and Resilience,” but research pertaining to any aspect of nutrition education is welcome. Nutrition educators are invited to highlight their innovative programs and initiatives, or interesting research. SNEB welcomes a diversity of issues surrounding nutrition education.
“Charting the future of nutrition education is more important than ever because food is at the core of wicked problems related to ecological sustainability, racial and social equity, and personal health,” SNEB President Pamela Koch said.
All submissions must be no more than 300 words and follow submission guidelines outlined at sneb.org/abstracts. You do not have to be a member of SNEB to submit an abstract. The submission fee for SNEB members is $25 and the fee for nonmembers is $50. Submissions must be received by 11:59 p.m. Eastern on February 14, 2020.
All abstracts will be peer-reviewed, and authors will receive written feedback based on a standard evaluation form. The peer review process provides mentoring for students and authors for whom English is not their native language. Accepted submissions will have the opportunity to resubmit at no cost after receiving reviewer feedback. All abstracts will be published in the Journal of Nutrition Education and Behavior and presented at the 2021 Annual Conference. Authors will have the opportunity to present their work in-person or virtually. Along with the published abstract, authors can submit a pdf of their research poster and a five-minute video outlining their work posted online on the Journal’s website
SNEB’s annual conference will be held August 7 – 10 in New Orleans, LA. Themed “Raising Reliance and Resilience,” the conference will work to guide systemic changes currently underway toward equity, food security and sovereignty, food justice and ecological sustainability.
“Our world is in a period of rapid change and many are feeling a sense of urgency, given the ongoing trauma of racial injustice, economic and political upheaval, global pandemic and more frequent, severe climate changes,” said SNEB President-elect and conference chair Jasia Steinmetz. “Nutrition educators are at the nexus, as the primary educators about food, nutrition and diet to achieve both public and planetary health. Our vision is that people are empowered through our efforts.”
