An update about the global pandemic

Recently, a novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV) emerged in China and rapidly spread worldwide. It is declared an ongoing outbreak as a global public health emergency by the World Health Organization (WHO). The spread of this virus is continuous despite many drastic containment measures (complete lockdown, curfews, etc). Currently, health authorities of the world focused on rapid diagnosis and isolation of patients as well as the search for therapies to counter the most severe effects of this infection. Recently, the vaccines are also being launched worldwide against the prevention of this infection.

COVID-19: Current Challenges and Future Perspectives intends to bring more rigorous knowledge of COVID-19. This book provides a general introduction about COVID-19, history, diagnosis, treatment, and management, along with its pathological mechanisms. In addition, it also explains the possible mechanism of deaths, targets, repurposing of drugs, herbal medicines in the treatment of COVID-19 infection. This book provides a comprehensive view on COVID-19 infection and is a guide for health care professionals, researchers, academicians, regulators and general public.

About the Author

Dr. Anoop Kumar currently working as Assistant Professor in Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology, National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPER), Raebareli. Earlier, he has worked as officiating Head and Associate Professor in Department of Pharmacology, Indo-Soviet Friendship College of Pharmacy (ISFCP), Moga, Punjab. He has completed his Master from Jamia Hamdarad University, Delhi and PhD from Birla Institute of Technology (B.I.T.), Mesra, Ranchi as a DST INSPIRE JRF and SRF fellow. Dr. Kumar has authored more than 60 (research and review articles) and 10 (book chapters) in publishers of International repute. He has filed 02 Indian patents and he is also an expert member of Board of studies of Clinical research, IKGPTU, Jalandhar and Drug Discovery Hackathon-2020 initiated by MHRD, Govt of India. He is a reviewer and guest editor of various International Journals of repute. The major research areas of Dr. Anoop Kumar are systematic reviews, meta-analysis and repurposition of drugs against various diseases using In-silico, in-vitro and in-vivo techniques.
