Investigators from the Smidt Heart Institute at Cedars-Sinai will present late-breaking findings from a large analysis of patient outcomes that suggest transcatheter mitral valve repair is both safe and effective for older patients. Raj Makkar, MD, associate director of the Smidt Heart Institute and Vice President of Cardiovascular Innovation and Intervention at Cedars-Sinai will present the findings, which show that in older patients, transcatheter-based mitral valve repair was safe and effective in reducing valve leakage. In almost 90% of patients who underwent the minimally invasive procedure, valve leakage decreased from severe to moderate or less. Makkar will present the findings on Saturday, March 5, at 1:15 p.m. CT. Embargo lifts Sunday, March 5, at 12:15PM CT.
