Expert Available: New Executive Order Expands Deregulatory Push with 10-for-1 Rule

WASHINGTON (February 4, 2025) – According to USA Today, a new executive order has been issued requiring agencies to repeal ten regulations for every new one introduced, significantly expanding the new administration’s first-term deregulatory efforts.

In a new piece for Forbes, Prof. Susan Dudley says, “That was a campaign promise and we knew it was coming but the order goes further. It revokes the Biden administration regulatory analysis guidelines, offers some details on how the 10-for-1 requirement will be implemented, and includes some surprises regarding which regulations will be covered and which will not.”

Dudley is a distinguished professor of practice in the Trachtenberg School of Public Policy and Public Administration. She formerly served as the director of the George Washington University Regulatory Studies Center.
