Anna Volerman, MD, assistant professor of medicine and pediatrics at the University of Chicago Medicine, has been selected to participate in the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation’s Clinical Scholars leadership program. The foundation’s programs connect leaders across the country—from every profession and field—to learn from and work with one another in creating more just and thriving communities.
The Clinical Scholars program is designed for teams of experienced health care providers from any discipline, from physicians and pharmacists to dentists and veterinarians. In the program, fellows sharpen their leadership skills and collaborate on a project to address complex health problems, allowing them to gain new perspectives and expertise while extending their influence and impact as professionals and as trusted members of communities.
As a member of the program’s newest cohort, Volerman will focus on developing a model to integrate community health workers in school to support a culture of health. She will work in partnership with a multidisciplinary team, which includes participants from the Sinai Urban Health Institute and Chicago Public Schools, to develop, implement, and evaluate this innovative and scalable model to improve the health of Chicago’s children.
“It is exciting to join this amazing community of scholars,” Volerman said. “I am thrilled to partner with a team that brings together diverse experience and deep passion to work toward impacting health disparities among children in Chicago.”
