An investigation by the New York Times published Sunday revealed several stunning revelations about Donald Trump’s tax returns, including that he paid only $750 in federal income taxes the year he won the presidency and paid no federal income taxes in 11 of the 18 years reporters examined.
Leandra Lederman, William W. Oliver Professor of Tax Law and Director of the Tax Program at the Indiana University Maurer School of Law, is available to comment on the report.
Lederman has written numerous articles on policy issues in the areas of federal income tax (individual and corporate), tax controversies (including a line of research on the U.S. Tax Court), and tax administration (including several articles on tax compliance and evasion). Her work often draws upon law-and-economics insights and has included empirical analyses of outcomes in U.S. Tax Court cases.
