Society for Maternal-Fetal Medicine to hold annual pregnancy meeting virtually, Jan. 25-30, 2021

WHO: The Society for Maternal-Fetal Medicine (SMFM) serves as the national voice for clinicians and researchers with expertise in high-risk pregnancies. Its 5,000 members are obstetricians who have an additional three years of formal education and are board certified in maternal-fetal medicine, making them the nation’s most authoritative experts in the care of people with complicated pregnancies.

WHAT: The 41st Annual Pregnancy Meeting is an annual scientific conference highlighting the latest research related to high-risk pregnancies.

Meeting highlights include:

• President’s Workshop on Preeclampsia, Jan. 25-26
  
  This two-day event, co-sponsored by the Preeclampsia Foundation, will bring together leading national and international researchers, clinicians, and patients to discuss research gaps and innovative ways to predict, prevent, and manage this serious and potentially life-threatening pregnancy complication.

• Racism, Equity and Respectful Care, Jan. 27
  
  This keynote panel presentation, co-sponsored by SMFM and the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, will feature Dr. Joia Crear-Perry, Prof. Dorothy Roberts, and Dr. Elizabeth Howell who will focus on three main messages: racism not race is the root of maternal health disparities; we must provide respectful care; and there is no quality without equity.

• Scientific Sessions, Jan. 28-30
  
  Researchers will present 101 oral abstracts, with time for live Q&A following each presentation. Also, all sessions will be recorded and available for one year for all registered attendees.

Researchers will present 1,074 posters where attendees can live chat with the presenting author. In addition, poster authors will have the option to upload a short presentation to accompany their poster.
