Elizabeth Matto, director of Rutgers University’s Center for Youth Political Participation, is available to discuss concerns about in-person voting, controversy surrounding mail-in ballots and youth participation ahead of the 2020 presidential election.
“In a health crisis such as this, we must have a safe and reliable voting system and that includes a robust vote by mail process,” said Matto. “Potential voters mustn’t have to decide between their health and their right to vote. States should also invest in voter education programs, especially in areas hit hard by COVID-19, and include physical polling places to overcome disparities and ensure voting is available to all.”
