Rutgers Expert Available to Discuss President Trump’s Social Media Executive Order

David Greenberg, a Rutgers–New Brunswick professor of history and of journalism and media studies, is available to discuss President Trump’s executive order on social media, which is expected to be announced today.

“Is posting on Twitter like making a speech in the village square? Or is it more like publishing a letter in a privately owned newspaper?” said Greenberg. “Americans need to revisit that question through the political process. But any changes to the law must be made by Congress, not a presidential order—especially not by a president who has shown a Nixonian eagerness to retaliate against reporters and journalists who cross him.”

Greenberg specializes in American political and cultural history, and is a contributing editor and columnist at Politico Magazine.
