“Dr. Ogbogu is a highly regarded physician and researcher, one of the nation’s top experts in the field of allergy and immunology, with medical education roots in Cleveland,” says Marlene R. Dr. Ogbogu earned her MD from Northeastern Ohio Universities College of Medicine. She completed a residency in Internal Medicine at Case Western Reserve University and a fellowship in Allergy and Immunology at National Institutes of Health in Maryland. She was recruited to The Ohio State University in 2008 and has held various leadership roles with both the university and Nationwide Children’s Hospital.
Dr. Ogbogu was appointed to the American Board of Allergy and Immunology Board of Directors. Her term began January 1, 2019, and extends through December 31, 2021. Her passion for education and service was recognized by The Ohio State University College of Medicine when she received the prestigious Courage to Teach award.

An active researcher in the field, Dr. Ogbogu is the principal investigator for ongoing IRB-approved studies on the topic of hypereosinophilic syndromes, asthma, and COVID-19. She has published in two scientific book chapters and dozens of peer reviewed articles.
Dr. Ogbogu is a member of several American Academy of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology (AAAAI) national committees including Program Director’s Assembly, Eosinophilic Gastrointestinal Disorders, and Committee on the Underserved. She is also the current Vice Chair for the AAAAI Interest Section-Health Outcomes, Education, Delivery and Quality.
