“Mount Auburn Hospital has long been known for patient-centered care, and the new nursery space was built with our newborns and their families in mind,” said Jeanette Clough, President of Mount Auburn Hospital. “With our new nursery unit, we’re able to ensure our newborns who require extra care receive the support they need from highly-skilled staff in a new, exceptional setting that caters to both the parent and baby.”
The brand new space features all private rooms, most with a view of the Charles River, and the option to have one parent or guardian stay overnight with their newborn. A virtual visiting room, the “NICView,” offers a secure, password-protected live camera stream for parents and loved ones to able to see the baby while at home via secure login. Other features include central monitoring by a team of clinical experts, state-of-the-art stabilization equipment and a dedicated breast milk refrigerator in each room.
“Our new Level II nursery is dedicated to stabilizing and providing exceptional care to newborn babies who need special attention,” said Janet Scott Lloyd, MD, MPH, Chair of the Department of Pediatrics at Mount Auburn Hospital. “A parent and their newborn baby’s needs are our top priority, and we’re thrilled to now offer these new amenities to further foster a supportive, personalized and compassionate environment for our patients.”
