“This is the case of the common man taking hedge fund billionaires to the cleaners,” says Michael Greenberger, Maryland Carey Law professor and financial derivatives expert, of the extraordinary events taking place on Wall Street where GameStop shares have soared in recent days.
“There doesn’t need to be an investigation, common investors are doing what hedge funds have done for years and they’re winning.”
Professor Greenberger, founder of the University of Maryland Center for Health and Homeland Security and a former director of the Division of Trading and Markets at the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) is available to comment on GameStop’s current wild ride on Wall Street.
He also served on the Steering Committee of the President’s Working Group on Financial Markets, and as a member of the International Organization of Securities Commission’s Hedge Fund Task Force.
Since that time, Professor Greenberger has frequently been asked to testify before Congressional committees on issues pertaining to the regulation of financial derivatives.
Professor Greenberger is available for telephone and Zoom interviews.
