Hurricane Dorian, had it occurred in the 1990s, would have prompted a massive, and unnecessary, evacuation of most of south Florida given its track over the past week. Given advances in the science of meteorology and numerical prediction; however, most forecasters agreed nearly a week in advance that Dorian would stall over the Bamahas, then turn north and parallel the Atlantic Coast.
