Harvard expert available to debunk children’s dental health myths

Harvard professor and spokesperson for the American Dental Association, Brittany Seymour, D.D.S, M.P.H, is available for interviews to help debunk myths about children’s dental health in time for National Children’s Dental Health Month in February.

“As a dentist and mom of an eight-year-old, I’ve not only studied the evolution of tiny teeth, I’ve lived it,” Dr. Seymour said. “We know that children who have cavities in their baby teeth are three times as likely to have cavities as adults. This is why it’s so important to teach our kids from a young age how to care for their teeth to set them up for healthy smiles throughout their lives, and I know firsthand the questions on parents’ minds.”

Some dental health myths can make parents wonder:

  • Is fluoride toothpaste safe for kids?
  • What age does my child need to see the dentist?
  • Can baby teeth get cavities?
  • What is baby bottle tooth decay?
  • Should my kids drink tap water?

Dr. Seymour is available to answer these questions and more, and was recently featured on NewsNation discussing dental health trends happening on TikTok.
