With more than 20 years of experience, Dr. Appelbaum specializes in minimally invasive gynecological surgery for children and adolescents, as well as pediatric pelvic reconstructive
surgery. Her clinical and research interests include congenital anomalies of the reproductive tract, vaginal agenesis, disorders of sex development, ovarian cysts/ovarian torsion, genital trauma,
endometriosis, polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS), abnormal female pubertal development, and menstrual disorders.
“I am proud to be a part of the Hackensack Meridian Children’s Health team,” said Dr. Appelbaum. “My goal is to provide compassionate and comprehensive gynecologic care for girls in a positive, comfortable environment.”
Dr. Applebaum is among the physicians and providers who will comprise the multidisciplinary team of the polycystic ovary syndrome comprehensive care program. The program is expected to launch later this year.
About Dr. Appelbaum
Dr. Appelbaum has contributed numerous publications on pediatric and adolescent gynecology in medical literature and has lectured locally and nationally. She has served on several national and local medical advisory boards and has developed and participated in multidisciplinary programs for patients with disorders of sex development.
Dr. Appelbaum earned her undergraduate degree in biology and psychology, as well as her medical degree, from Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta, Georgia, where she also completed her internship. She completed her residency training in obstetrics, gynecology and reproductive medicine at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City, New York.
