New Brunswick, N.J. (Sept. 19, 2019) – Rutgers scholar Mark Beal, the author of Decoding Gen Z, is available to discuss whether companies are prepared to recruit and retain the newest arrivals to the workplace – Generation Z, or people born between 1997 and 2010.
The oldest “Gen Z’ers” recently graduated from college and are filling entry-level positions across the United States.
“Gen Z is unlike any other consumer segment before them,” Beal said. “They are the most diverse cohort and have had technology in hand since they were infants. Aside from competitive compensation, Gen Z has different priorities than previous generations as it relates to the workplace. These individuals are seeking employers that offer a diverse and inclusive culture; mentors not managers; and flexibility when it comes to where and when they work, including the ability to ‘work from anywhere’. And they are prioritizing employers who are tech-forward and adopt the latest innovations in technology to create greater efficiencies on the job.
“For the next 15 years, members of Gen Z will be joining the workforce annually after graduation. If corporations and organizations don’t transform their approach to recruitment and retention, it will lead to a revolving door of Gen Zers joining and departing them at a faster rate than any generation.”
