Dr. Shazia Jamil is board certified in critical care and pulmonary medicine, is the head of academic affairs in the Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine at the Scripps Clinic and associate clinical professor at University of California San Diego School of Medicine.
Dr. Jamil co-founded and chairs the American Thoracic Society Rapid Response Working Group. Their purpose has been to identify emerging lung health issues affecting a population and to provide rapid, accurate state of the art and evidence-based educational information that can be readily used by health care professionals and patients. Her group was one of the first ones in the U.S. to publish on what was then called Novel Wuhan virus in early 2020 and since then have published several COVID-19 related public health documents in the prestigious American Journal of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine.
She is co-chair of the California Thoracic Society Education Committee, holds an editorial board position at ATS Scholar and has served in leadership positions for several years on the ATS Education Committee.
