Science family journals’ move to new online platform will enhance user experience

To make all content across the

Science

family of journals more integrated, discoverable, and visually compelling for the reader, the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS), the world’s largest general scientific society and publisher of the Science family of journals, will move its full suite of online content to Atypon’s online publishing platform, Literatum, in the summer of 2021.

The move comprises all of

‘s content, including the archives dating back to 1880, the research and commentary in

Science Robotics

, and the open-access journal

Careers, blog, video, podcast, and Custom Publishing content.

A top-to-bottom redesign delivers a clearer navigational structure, allowing users to browse and discover content more easily, with enhanced visibility for references and figures in research articles. Added to this is a greater ability for personalization through bookmarking and saved searches, as well as an improved responsive design to ensure a seamless user experience on any device.

The new site will make

Science

‘s popular News, Careers, podcast, and video content more discoverable and interconnected, further aiding AAAS’s efforts to advance and broadly communicate science. It will also better identify related research and commentary to the reader, including as it spans the six

Science

family journals across distinct scientific disciplines. The broader dissemination of science to researchers outside a field is part of the strategic mission of AAAS.
