Ronald Chen elected as Fellow to American Society of Clinical Oncology

Ronald Chen, MD, MPH, has been named a Fellow of the American Society of Clinical Oncology (FASCO) in honor of his extraordinary volunteer service, dedication and commitment to ASCO. The distinction of FASCO is given to those who have carried out efforts that benefit ASCO, the specialty of oncology and the patients they serve.

“It is an honor to be recognized as a Fellow of ASCO,” Dr. Chen said. “I have had great opportunities to participate in the organization’s Leadership Development Program as well as contribute to various aspects of ASCO’s work. Their efforts help advance cancer treatment and improve patient care, and I feel fortunate to be a part of it.”

Dr. Chen serves as the Brandmeyer Chair and Professor of Radiation Oncology at the University of Kansas School of Medicine, clinical service chief at The University of Kansas Health System and associate director for Health Equity at The University of Kansas Cancer Center. He is a leading genitourinary radiation oncologist and a renowned health services researcher. Dr. Chen’s research interest involves the long-term outcomes of prostate cancer patients and survivors. This includes comparing the effectiveness and long-term quality of life effects of different treatments for prostate cancer.
