March 23, 2020 – Baltimore, MD – While healthcare and government leaders around the world are focused on “flattening the curve” of the spread of COVID-19, an emerging concurrent rallying cry to “raise the line” of healthcare service capacity is being showcased in a new educational video recently released and set for international distribution.
LifeBridge Health, an academic community health system in Baltimore, MD, and Osmosis, an international medical education video platform, released the collaborative video aimed at educating both medical practitioners and the general public on the importance and practical ways to flatten the curve and raise the line of capacity.

The video provides a detailed breakdown of the scientific rationale for social distancing, increased focus on hygiene and cleaning guidelines and need for isolation in confirmed and expected cases of COVID-19 that will help slow the spread of the virus over time.
In addition, the video drives home how tactics like postponing routine medical care and non-essential testing, employing the use of telemedicine and virtual care and other measures are helping to raise the line in terms of healthcare capacity to serve patients who need to be hospitalized due to COVID-19.
“This video was developed as a practical tool to educate our fellow healthcare workers and the public on the proactive efforts, reactionary measures and shared sacrifices that make up the current overriding strategy to minimize damage and beat the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Daniel J. Durand, MD, chief innovation officer for LifeBridge Health, who developed the concept and script for the video with Susan Mani, MD, chief population health officer for LifeBridge Health, along with medical and content experts from Osmosis.
“Times like this can feel frightening. But it’s important to know that we are all empowered to help and we can work together to fight this pandemic. While hospitals are working to raise the line of capacity, we can all help flatten the curve by practicing social distancing and washing our hands. This is very much a collective effort,” added Dr. Mani.
The video will be posted on the Osmosis YouTube channel and shared with their 1.44 million subscribers throughout the world.
