Rutgers Expert Available to Discuss Spring Allergy Season in N.J.

New Brunswick, N.J. (April 20, 2021) – Rutgers University–New Brunswick allergy specialist Leonard Bielory is available for interviews on the spring allergy season in New Jersey.

“One can expect a brisk allergy season this year since we had a lot of snow, which results in an ample water supply that promotes the early and robust onset of tree pollen,” said Bielory, a physician, allergist and immunologist who is affiliated with the Rutgers Center for Environmental Prediction in the School of Environmental and Biological Sciences. “The season will peak by the end of April.”

“Our previous research at Rutgers found that early spring pollen release and intensity are dependent on the prior winter snowfall,” he added.

Bielory, who co-authored a recent study that correlates higher airborne pollen concentrations with increased SARS-CoV-2 infection rates, is available to comment at bielory@icloud.com
