Media Advisory
WHAT: Recent data released by the CDC indicates that COVID-19 has contributed to an increase in the number of young adults, minorities, essential workers, and unpaid caregivers reporting symptoms of anxiety and depression.
This is not completely unexpected. McLean Hospital and other mental health experts predicted and have been preparing to see a mental health surge post-COVID.
WHY: Seeing an increase in the need for mental health services stands to reason with all the stress, confinement, trauma and loss that the population has endured across our country.
WHO: McLean Hospital experts in anxiety and depression are available to discuss the recent CDC report and provide tips on how to help yourself, loved ones, and friends manage in uncertain times. Individuals coping with anxiety who have sought mental health services are also available for interviews.
