McLean Hospital has once again been named one of the top hospitals in the United States. Announced today, U.S. News & World Report’s annual best hospitals survey ranks McLean second overall in the nation for psychiatry, making McLean America’s top-ranked freestanding psychiatric hospital for the 18th consecutive year. A complete list of the 2020 rankings is available online at usnews.com/besthospitals.
“This year has been among the most challenging for all of us; but despite the global public health and economic crises, McLean has continued to provide specialized, evidence-based, compassionate psychiatric care for those most vulnerable,” said Scott L. Rauch, MD, president and psychiatrist in chief for McLean. “We are honored to be ranked among the top services for psychiatric care in the country and strive to meet the needs of more patients and families than ever before in our greater than 200-year history.”
“For more than 30 years, U.S. News & World Report has been helping patients, along with the help of their physicians, identify the Best Hospitals in an array of specialties, procedures, and conditions,” said Ben Harder, managing editor and chief of health analysis at U.S. News. “The hospitals that rise to the top of our rankings and ratings have deep medical expertise, and each has built a track record of delivering good outcomes for patients.”
The U.S. News Best Hospitals methodologies in most areas of care are based largely on objective measures. These measures include risk-adjusted survival and discharge-to-home rates, volume, and quality of nursing, among other care-related indicators. Best Hospitals was produced by U.S. News with RTI International, a leading research organization based in Research Triangle Park, North Carolina.
