Celebration of the 10th Anniversary of the Dubin Breast Center Raises $2.3 Million

New York, NY (December 8, 2020) —The Dubin Breast Center of The Tisch Cancer Institute at the Mount Sinai Health System celebrated its 10th anniversary during its annual gala on Monday, December 7, 2020.

The evening honored Eva Andersson-Dubin, MD, founder of the Center and a Mount Sinai trustee, and Elisa Port, MD, FACS, the Center’s Director and Chief of Breast Surgery for the Mount Sinai Health System, and raised more than $2.3 million to benefit the Dubin Breast Center. The center is part of The Tisch Cancer Institute, a National Cancer Institute-designated cancer center.

The evening was celebrated virtually with a special tribute video hosted by Perri Peltz, Dubin Breast Center Advisory Board Member, which took donors and patients on a journey to commemorate and celebrate 10 key milestones of the Dubin Breast Center over its 10 year history in 10 minutes.

These key accomplishments included groundbreaking research and clinical trials; pioneering cold cap technology, which helps patients to retain their hair during chemotherapy; offering patients personalized services such as massage, yoga classes, and therapy; opening a preoperative unit; and treating 250,000 patients. “The dream to create the Dubin Breast Center came about when I was diagnosed with breast cancer. There should be a place where every woman who has to go through this diagnosis should know that she doesn’t have to go anywhere else and that everything is done under one roof. That was my vision for the Dubin Breast Center,” said Dr. Andersson-Dubin in the gala video.

“I believe we created a great patient-center model. It became clear that the Dubin Breast Center struck a chord with patients. The patient is at the center of the experience, which is where they should be,” said Dr. Port in the gala video.

“Ten years—it goes so fast. I would like to congratulate Dr. Elisa Port, Dr. Eva Andersson-Dubin, and the entire Dubin Breast Center team for providing the best breast cancer treatment you can get anywhere in the United States and in the world,” said Dennis S. Charney, MD, Anne and Joel Ehrenkranz Dean of the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, in the gala video.

“What the Dubin Breast Center has accomplished in the last 10 years is nothing less than extraordinary. I want to congratulate Dr. Eva Andersson-Dubin, Dr. Elisa Port, and the entire team at the Dubin Breast Center for all that they have achieved and for all that they will achieve in the next 10 years,” said Kenneth L. Davis, MD, President and Chief Executive Officer of the Mount Sinai Health System, in the gala video.

“A once-in-a-lifetime pandemic cannot stop us from celebrating the 10th Anniversary of the Dubin Breast Center and all it has done to advance the standard of breast cancer care and treatment. To all the individuals who have played a part in creating and sustaining this phenomenal institution, I say thank you for all you have done. A special shout out to Dr. Eva Andersson-Dubin and Dr. Elisa Port: your determination, passion, and indefatigable drive made all of this happen,” said James S. Tisch, Co-Chairman of the Mount Sinai Health System Boards of Trustees, in the gala video.
