Scientists Explore Mechanism that Regulates Protein Levels, Controls Fluid Transport in Intestines

Article title: SNX27 regulates DRA activity and mediates its direct recycling by PDZ-interaction in early endosomes at the apical pole of Caco2 cells

Authors: Karen Bannert, Peggy Berlin, Johannes Reiner, Heiko Lemcke, Robert David, Robby Engelmann, Georg Lamprecht

From the authors:“The results from this study, our previous data and findings from the literature indicate that different [downregulated in adenoma (DRA)] recycling routes exist. Furthermore, not only the interaction of DRA with [postsynaptic density 95, disc large, zonula occludens 1] adapter proteins itself but also the function of multiprotein complexes like the [sorting nexin 27] retromer complex are important for its recycling and regulation.”

This study is highlighted as one of May’s “best of the best” as part of the American Physiological Society’s APSselect program.
