Rutgers School of Public Health Dean Perry N. Halkitis is available to speak about the public health impact of data, webpages and reports being removed from federal health agency websites.
The following quote by Halkitis is available for pick up:
“The removal of data, webpages and reports, including the CDC’s Youth Risk Behavior Surveillance System (YRBSS) along with various webpages that relate to the health of diverse and often marginalized populations, including, but not limited to, LGBTQ people, is highly concerning,” Halkitis said. “These moves, coupled with the recent case in front of the U.S. Supreme Court about access to pre-exposure prophylaxis, negatively impact the health of the entire U.S. population and exacerbate diseases, like, but not limited to, HIV. Eliminating data from public access will not erase the health needs of people and populations.”
