Public Interest Technology Event to Showcase Latest Research in Tech Law, AI and Society, Data Science, and More—Feb. 6

New York University will feature the latest public interest technology research, including work in the areas of tech law, AI, social science, data science, robotics, investigative journalism, human rights, and more on Thurs., Feb. 6, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., in NYU’s Hemmerdinger Hall, Silver Center for Arts and Science, 100 Washington Square East (enter at 32 Waverly Place or 31 Washington Place [wheelchair accessible]). 

The event marks the launch of NYU’s Alliance for Public Interest Technology (https://www.nyualliance.org/), a new, cross-university initiative launched by an interdisciplinary group of NYU faculty focused on the responsible and equitable creation, use, and governance of technology that will support new research, develop pipelines for diverse students doing public interest technology work, and build collaborations with academic and non-academic institutions. 

Presentations and panel discussions will include the following: “Tech and Policing”; “Making Data Great Again”; “AI, Datafication, and Human Rights”; “What Technologists Need to Know About Bias”; “Technology, Workers, and Activism”; and “Holding AI Accountable through Investigative Journalism”.
