Meridian Health Foundation Welcomes Two New Trustees

Neptune, NJ – August 21, 2019 – Hackensack Meridian Health Meridian Health Foundation is pleased to announce the addition of Heidi Maggs and Carol Stillwell to the Meridian Health Foundation Board of Trustees.

“Heidi and Carol have been tremendous assets to our organization, giving selflessly of their time and resources for a number of programs and services at our medical centers,” says Joseph Stampe, president and chief development officer, Meridian Health Foundation. “We are thrilled to welcome such dedicated people to the board and know that with their assistance, our organization will continue to make a meaningful difference in the lives and health of our community.”

Maggs is a founding board member of the Women’s Heart Fund, which champions women’s health issues in Monmouth, Ocean and Middlesex counties through philanthropy and community learning and engagement. She served as chair from 2009 to 2011 and was re-elected in 2018. Maggs also sits on the Hackensack Meridian Health Bayshore Medical Center Patient and Family Advisory Council. Prior to her volunteerism at Hackensack Meridian Health, she worked with Visiting Homecare of Ocean County as a field supervisor and then as the director of Human Resources. She is also a nurse by trade, beginning her career at Hackensack Meridian Health Riverview Medical Center, where she worked as a medical surgical nurse and then as an assistant clinical coordinator. Maggs is an alumni advisor for the Pennsylvania Kappa chapter of Pi Beta Phi at Lehigh University, has been married to her husband, Jim, for 28 years and has two children. 

Stillwell has a storied history of philanthropy, contributing to numerous organizations throughout New Jersey. She has been honored by many for her generosity and has received countless awards, including the William C. Black Award of Hope for her contributions to support Hackensack Meridian Health Jersey Shore University Medical Center. She joined the Hackensack Meridian Health Riverview Medical Center Foundation Board of Trustees in 2000 and has made significant gifts to Meridian Health Foundation. Two of her most notable acts of generosity include a $3 million gift to Riverview Medical Center to establish the Larkin-Stillwell-Hansen Infusion Center and a $250,000 commitment to Bayshore Medical Center to support the new Emergency Care Center slated to break ground in October 2019. 

Stillwell is the owner, president and CEO of Stillwell Hansen, Inc., a leader in data center infrastructure solutions, and has been recognized as one of the top women business leaders in New Jersey each year from 2009 to 2018. She has a twin sister, Mary Ann Larkin, who assists Carol in all of her philanthropic efforts, as well as one son, six stepchildren and many grandchildren. A lover of fine wine, Stillwell spends her limited free time in Napa Valley.

The addition of influential community members to the foundation board is paramount as Meridian Health Foundation continues in its capital campaign to raise $150 million for eight Hackensack Meridian Health hospitals within Middlesex, Monmouth and Ocean counties, including: Jersey Shore University Medical Center, K. Hovnanian Children’s Hospital, Bayshore Medical Center, Ocean Medical Center, Raritan Bay Medical Center – Old Bridge, Raritan Bay Medical Center – Perth Amboy, Riverview Medical Center and Southern Ocean Medical Center. Called Giving Heals, the campaign supports four important initiatives: strengthening oncology services, improving clinical outcomes, enhancing the patient experience and broadening clinical research and academic programs.
